RoHS testing of electrical devices and components

Safe use of hazardous substances in compliance with RoHS 3

The EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS Directive) sets limits for brominated flame retardants and heavy metals in electrical devices. RoHS 3 introduced additional restrictions on phthalate plasticizers (4P). DEKRA offers tailored testing concepts and RoHS analyses with accredited testing methods for your electrical products.

Stringent limits for RoHS restricted substances

With the exception of specific and time-limited cases, electronics products containing elevated concentrations of certain heavy metals, brominated flame retardants, or phthalate plasticizers may not be placed on the market. These limits apply to every homogeneous material within a product. RoHS compliance is a prerequisite for CE marking electrical products. RoHS analyses may also be necessary when adhering to EN 50581 for technical documentation.

Customised RoHS testing concepts

At the Laboratory for Environmental and Product Analysis, DEKRA's experienced experts develop tailor-made RoHS testing solutions for you, using accredited testing methods. They take into account your specific requirements, as well as the quality and extent of the information and documentation already available. The testing scope can range from sample tests on selected materials to a comprehensive analysis of all homogeneous materials of an article. Our test reports are internationally recognized according to IEC 62321 standards, including for SASO and UAE RoHS.
